Wrestling Icon, Sid Vicious, Passes Away at 63

(ProsperNews.net) – Legendary pro-wrestler Sid Eudy lost his battle with cancer and died at the age of 63.

The wrestler’s son, Gunnar Eudy, announced on a social media post that his father died on Monday, Aug. 26, and said he was “saddened” to break the news. Gunnar described Eudy as “a man of strength, kindness, and love” who will be “greatly missed” by family, friends, and colleagues.

Eudy went by the nicknames “Sid Justice,” “Sycho Sid,” and most notably “Sid Vicious.” He was born in West Memphis, Arkansas, on Dec. 16, 1960, and launched his career in pro wrestling in 1987 in Lord Humongous with Continental Championship Wrestling. That same year, he won the Southeastern Heavyweight Championship for the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and then formed a tag team with Shane Douglas to win the Tag Team Championship.

Eudy went on to become a six-time world wrestling champion, winning the WWF Championship, WCW World Heavyweight, and the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship two times each. A one-time WCW US Heavyweight Champion, he also headlined several pay-per-view events across both organizations, taking on other notable figures like Hulk Hogan.

According to Eudy’s son, the pro wrestler died after a long battle with cancer. He told fans of his father that their thoughts and prayers were appreciated during the family’s time of grieving and that details of a memorial service would “be shared soon.”

Eudy also suffered from neck problems for over twenty years. In 1997, he had neck surgery. Although he continued to wrestle, he began to pull away from the profession and nearly stopped entirely after an injury a few years later.

The WWE posted about the wrestler’s death on social media with a photo of Eudy in his prime and a message of condolences to his friends, family, and fans. That post was shared by fellow wrestling legend Triple H, who extended his condolences, noted Eudy as “a two-time WWE Champion” and called him “the Master” and the “Ruler of the World.” Triple H said that a few performances in wrestling history “had the look, intensity, and ability to connect” with an audience like Eudy.
