(ProsperNews.net) – Whoopi Goldberg insists she will continue to defend President Biden despite his poor performance at the first Presidential debate. “I don’t care if he’s pooped his pants,” she said. The actress conceded, however, that Biden had a “bad night” in Georgia but noted it was not his first. She said he also performed badly against Kamala Harris in 2020 but went on to win the election.
While hosting The View, Goldberg concluded that she would wait for the second debate before adding to calls for Biden to step aside. Co-host Ana Navarro likewise defended the President and instead attacked press coverage of the debate. “It almost feels like media malpractice,” she declared.
The two celebrities are among very few who remain loyal to Biden, as others have taken to social media to demand that he stand aside for another candidate. Among those to call for a new Democrat contender was author Stephen King, who tweeted that it was time for Biden to depart in America’s interests. TV host Stephen Colbert said the debate “took a year” off his life, while Hollywood director Rob Reiner said, “It’s time for Joe Biden to step down.”
Elected Democrats are likewise increasingly joining the chorus to replace Biden. Rep. Adam Smith of Washington became the sixth Democrat to urge the President to pull out, saying he is “not the best person” to convince America to vote for their party.
Smith’s remarks came soon after Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Texas made similar calls, as did Arizona’s Raul Grijalva, Massachusetts’ Seth Moulton, Illinois’ Mike Quigley, and Minnesota’s Angie Craig.
In a letter to Congressional colleagues, President Biden sought to reassure them that he could see out another term and insisted that he would not stand down. The President stated that he is “firmly committed” to remaining in the race and defeating Donald Trump. Biden claimed he had spoken with numerous party activists and officials, who pleaded with him to stay in the contest.
