Ukraine Flags Waved by Democrats as House Approves $61 Billion Aid

(ProsperNews.net) – Lawmakers waved Ukrainian flags in the House of Representatives while a bill to give the Eastern European country $61 billion in military aid was passed. Several Democrats raised miniature flags and shouted “Ukraine” from the House floor. Commentators said the applause as Speaker Johnson announced the bill’s success was the loudest of this Congressional session.

Mr. Johnson proceeded to admonish the applauding Democrats, saying their behavior was a “violation of decorum,” but the clapping continued regardless. New York Republican Rep. Marc Molinaro called the flag-waving “inappropriate,” while Rep. Anna Paulina Luna took a microphone and told Congressmembers to “put those d**n flags away.”

Some lawmakers took to social media afterward to complain about the spectacle, with Rep. Mike Collins sarcastically calling the House “the Ukrainian Parliament.”

Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky later stated that he was disgusted by the display. Speaking bluntly, Senator Paul said the House had voted to send more American money to “a corrupt foreign regime.” He added that Democrats are jubilant about securing Ukraine’s borders while leaving America’s wide open.

Similarly, GOP Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona said the incident provided proof that Democrats care more about Ukraine than the United States. Biggs noted that while US debt reached $35 trillion, the “uni party” sent billions to foreign shores.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for US support after months of deadlock prompted by Speaker Johnson’s prior refusal to put a funding bill to the House floor. Mr. Zelenskyy said the bill’s passage “keeps history on the right track.”

European leaders likewise expressed relief. The UK’s Foreign Secretary David Cameron praised the funding as a “vital step forward” and a warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the West continues to back Ukraine. Mr. Putin, however, responded, saying the US had ensured the war’s continuance, causing many more deaths and accelerating the destruction of Ukraine.

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene renewed her firm objection, declaring that American lawmakers are “obsessed” with supporting foreign wars.
