She emphasized the need to protect the country from politicians who prioritize their own power over the interests of the American people.
Gabbard’s endorsement came on the third anniversary of the tragic suicide bombing in Afghanistan that killed 13 U.S. service members during the chaotic withdrawal. Addressing the audience, Gabbard made it clear that her support for Trump goes beyond party lines. She called on all Americans, regardless of their political affiliation, to join her in electing Trump and returning him to the White House to “save our country” as she endorsed Trump.
Gabbard, who represented Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district from 2013 to 2021, left the Democratic Party in 2022. She criticized the party as an “elitist cabal of warmongers” and has since become a prominent voice in conservative circles, speaking at events like the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
Trump recently recruited Gabbard to assist with his debate preparation ahead of his upcoming face-off with Vice President Kamala Harris at the National Constitutional Center in Philadelphia. Gabbard has been a vocal critic of Harris, especially since their 2019 Democratic primary debate, where Gabbard called out Harris for her record as California’s attorney general, particularly regarding marijuana convictions.
The endorsement also follows the news that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a former Democrat who ran as an Independent in the 2024 race, has suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump. Kennedy accused the Democratic Party of running a sham primary and targeting both himself and Trump with legal actions. Kennedy announced that he will now be campaigning alongside Trump until the election.
Gabbard’s backing of Trump signals her continued shift away from her former party and her growing alignment with conservative values and figures as she transitions to a high-profile role in Trump’s circle.
