(ProsperNews.net) – The Justice Department has released a disturbing letter from Ryan Wesley Routh, a man accused of trying to assassinate former President Donald Trump. The letter was part of a box sent by Routh to a witness several months before his arrest. The witness only opened the box after hearing about the attack, which took place on Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Inside the box, authorities found handwritten letters and ammunition. One of the letters, titled “Dear World,” openly admitted to the assassination attempt and even offered money to anyone willing to finish the job. In the letter, Routh expressed his belief that Trump was unfit to be president.
The arrest memo revealed that Routh traveled from his home in Greensboro, North Carolina, to West Palm Beach in mid-August. His phone records showed he had been near Trump’s properties, including Mar-a-Lago, several times leading up to the attack.
Investigators also found a book Routh wrote in 2023. The book, titled Ukraine’s Unwinnable War, discusses several global conflicts. Disturbingly, it also includes a section where Routh encouraged Iran to assassinate Trump. In the book, he apologized for supporting Trump’s election and even invited Iran to kill both Trump and himself for what he called a “mistake.”
Routh has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm, but more charges are expected soon. The gun he had during the attack was loaded and had its serial number scratched off, making it untraceable. During his arrest, Routh had multiple cell phones and had been researching how to escape to Mexico.
A witness who saw Routh at the golf course reported him to the police, providing photos of his vehicle as he fled the scene. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has stated that Routh’s crimes are serious enough to warrant a life sentence.
Routh is currently in custody and is expected to face more charges soon, possibly including aggravated assault for threatening a Secret Service agent.
