Trump’s Popularity Rises Among Hispanics, Biden’s Support Fades

(ProsperNews.net) – Support for Donald Trump is surging among Latinos, at President Biden’s expense. In a new Axios/Ipsos poll, Latino support for the President decreased from 47% last summer to 41%, whereas Trump’s favorability has risen from 29% to 32%. Support for Vice President Kamala Harris has also dropped from 42% to 39%.

The result follows a Biden ad campaign aimed at Latinos that highlights President Trump’s prior comments about some immigrants, including recent remarks that criminal migrants “poison the blood” of the United States.

On the issues Americans consider most important, including the economy and crime, Trump also inspires more confidence than Biden. For example, on the economy, the former President is ahead by 22%, while also enjoying an 11% lead on crime reduction. However, Biden is ahead on the abortion issue, prompting Trump to clarify his position in March after months of speculation. The former President said abortion is a state issue, and he has no intention of implementing a nationwide ban as President Biden’s campaign had suggested.

In a recently released statement on his website, former President Trump said abortion is a personal matter and should be left to the “will of the people” on a state-by-state basis. Mr. Trump also confirmed his support for in vitro fertilization (IVF), saying he wants to encourage strong and healthy American families and make it easier to have children, “not harder.”

The latest Axios/Ipsos result mirrors that of a March New York Times/Siena College poll that also showed Trump marching ahead. According to that survey, 46% of Latinos back Trump, compared to 40% who support President Biden.

Samantha Gasca, a GOP candidate in Illinois, said she believes Trump’s straight-talking is winning over Latinos in her state. “Wishy-washy doesn’t get you anywhere,” she noted.

Giancarlo Sopo, who led Trump’s campaign among Latinos in 2020, said the demographic has nothing in common with Biden. He also noted that Hispanics tend to have larger families and are, therefore, hit harder by inflation.
