(ProsperNews.net) – Donald Trump has trounced Joe Biden’s fundraising record with a $50 million haul in a single night. The Republican National Committee (RNC) announced the Trump campaign’s successful event in Palm Beach, Florida, saying it set a new record just a week after Biden raised $26 million in New York with a glitzy event involving Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
Analysts say the huge haul at Palm Beach indicates that mainstream Republicans are increasingly at ease with Trump’s candidacy and coming on board. Trump campaign spokesperson Chris LaCivita called the Florida event “an incredible night” for the GOP candidate, adding that Mr. Trump is “winning poll after poll” and demonstrating that national momentum is on his side.
RNC chair Michael Whatley, together with co-chair Lara Trump, issued a statement saying the committee and the broader Republican party are united behind Mr.Trump as never before and ready to defeat Biden on behalf of Americans tired of his “record of failure.”
Meanwhile, however, some polls appear to be turning in the President’s favor. For example, a Reuters survey in April places Biden ahead of Donald Trump at 41% to 37%. Survey USA sees the President ahead by 44% to 42%, while Trump has a slim lead of 44% to 43% at Morning Consult.
President Trump, however, maintains his lead in some swing states. At the end of March, in Arizona, Trump enjoyed a significant lead in several polls, including a Wall Street Journal survey that placed him ahead of Biden by 47% to 42%. In Georgia, Trump’s lead hovers around 3%, with similar results in Michigan.
The two candidates are equal in Wisconsin, where the Wall Street Journal places both at 46%. In some Wisconsin polls, Biden enjoys a slight lead; in others, Trump is ahead by between 1% and 4%. Similarly, in Pennsylvania, results vary. The Wall Street Journal shows that Trump leads by 47% to 44%, but a Franklin and Marshall College survey places Biden ahead by 48% to 38%.
