Trump Targets FBI Leadership, Promises Major Overhaul

(ProsperNews.net) – President-elect Donald Trump did not hold back in his criticism of FBI Director Christopher Wray during a recent interview on NBC’s Meet the Press. Speaking with host Kristen Welker, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Wray’s leadership while outlining his goals for Kash Patel, his nominee to lead the bureau.

Trump said Patel is someone who will act on principle rather than political bias. “Kash is going to do what he thinks is right,” Trump said, emphasizing that his focus will be on restoring integrity rather than targeting political opponents. “He’s not there to go after my enemies. He’s there to make sure justice is served fairly.”

Patel, a former aide to Trump with a history of involvement in high-profile investigations, is set to work closely with U.S. Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi. Trump said he expects the justice system under their leadership to function effectively and independently.

When pressed about his dissatisfaction with Wray, Trump didn’t mince words. “I’m not thrilled with him,” he stated bluntly, citing the FBI’s search of his Mar-a-Lago residence as a key grievance. “He invaded my home,” Trump said. “I’m very unhappy with the things he’s done, and crime is at an all-time high. Meanwhile, our borders are wide open, and migrants—including criminals from prisons and mental institutions—are flooding in.”

Trump went further, lamenting what he sees as a decline in public trust in the FBI under Wray’s tenure. “I respect the FBI, but the respect for the bureau has gone way down in recent years,” he said. While Trump praised the agency’s foundational role, he argued that it needs reform to restore its reputation.

The president-elect also made a curious reference to an incident in which he claimed Wray downplayed a personal injury. “When I was shot in the ear, he said, ‘Maybe it’s shrapnel.’ Where’s the shrapnel coming from? Heaven? I don’t think so,” he quipped, underscoring his frustration with the current FBI leadership.

Trump’s vision for Patel as FBI Director signals his intent to overhaul the agency’s priorities, focusing on accountability and justice, while sidelining what he sees as political interference that has plagued the bureau in recent years.
