(ProsperNews.net) – Former President Donald Trump recently revisited Butler, Pennsylvania, a place where he had survived an assassination attempt during a rally in July. In an interview on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, host Maria Bartiromo asked Trump why he felt compelled to return to Butler for another rally after the harrowing event.
Trump responded with a sense of unfinished business. “Unfinished business, I think,” he said, explaining his return to the town. Bartiromo had also referenced the dramatic moment from the July rally when Trump’s life was saved by a simple turn of his head. Trump recalled how a bullet grazed his ear after he had glanced at a chart on illegal immigration, giving credit to that split-second movement for saving his life.
Reflecting on the event, Trump admitted he was unsure about how to introduce the chart again during his latest rally, but it ended up resonating with the crowd. “It was a beautiful [moment], too, because the audience understood it immediately,” he said, noting the supportive cheers when he brought the chart back into his speech.
Trump also touched on a solemn moment at the rally, where they observed a moment of silence at the exact time of day the shooting occurred months earlier. This act was in honor of Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who lost his life in the shooting, which also injured Trump and several attendees. The gunman was killed by Secret Service counter-snipers.
To mark the occasion, Trump said they played a recording of the famous bells of Notre Dame, despite the absence of such bells in the local area. “You heard the bells going. And there are no bells like that in the village,” he explained, describing how the ringing added to the emotional atmosphere.
The rally also featured a moving performance of Ave Maria by opera singer Christopher Macchio, which Trump recalled as a powerful moment for the audience. “Half of the people were crying. I mean, it was incredible. Everybody. I mean, the place was going wild,” he said.
