(ProsperNews.net) – Donald Trump has released an ad featuring clips of Ron DeSantis thanking him for his leadership. In the short video posted to the former President’s Truth Social media account, DeSantis is on stage with his wife Casey and President Trump. He tells the crowd he wants to thank Trump for all he has done to fight terrorism and for US military veterans.
In another clip, the Floridian praises Mr. Trump for refusing to cower to the media and “standing tall” against opposition like no other US President has faced. “Even his worst critics would say he is someone determined to keep the promises he made,” DeSantis declares.
The ad comes a month after the Floridian released an attack video aimed at Mr. Trump’s support of the LGBT community. However, it backfired on Governor DeSantis because he included a clip of Trump pledging to protect LGBT Americans in the wake of homophobic murders at a nightclub in Florida. Gay conservatives condemned the video as homophobic, while others called it bizarre and incoherent.
Meanwhile, California’s Governor Gavin Newsom challenged DeSantis to a debate, which the Floridian accepted. Speaking on Sean Hannity’s show, DeSantis said, “Absolutely, I’m game. Let’s get it done. Just tell me when and where. We’ll do it.” He added, however, that in many respects, the debate has already been won as Californians leave the Golden State in record numbers – many relocating to Florida.
A spokesman for Gavin Newsom offered two dates for the debate, November 8 or 10, and suggested it take place in Nevada, Georgia, or North Carolina. The discussion will be 90 minutes long and neither participant can have pre-prepared notes or brief documents.
While he may feel he has won the debate with Newsom, Governor DeSantis’ plan to take the White House continues to suffer setbacks as President Trump storms ahead. Polling conducted in early August by Ipsos put Trump at 47%, with DeSantis trailing on just 13%.
