Trump Rejects Allegations of Considering Nikki Haley for Vice President

(ProsperNews.net) – Donald Trump has rejected suggestions that he is considering Nikki Haley as a potential running mate. Media reports emerged over the weekend of May 11 stating that Haley was on Trump’s list of potentials, citing sources close to the former President. However, Mr. Trump took to his Truth Social media account to deny the reports. “Nikki Haley is not under consideration for the V.P. slot, but I wish her well,” he wrote.

Ms. Haley, who served as UN Ambassador during the Trump administration, was the last remaining Republican challenger to drop out of the primary race. She had attempted to move the GOP toward an anti-Trump future, initially saying she respected the former Commander-in-Chief but insisting it was time to move on. Later in the race, however, she increasingly condemned Trump as unfit and repeatedly questioned his cognitive strength. In February, she called him “unhinged” and “diminished.”

When former South Carolina Governor Haley finally did drop out of the primary race, she refused to endorse Donald Trump, saying he would have to earn the support of her backers and other non-MAGA Republicans.

Haley’s refusal to endorse Donald Trump has led to some speculation that she may disown the GOP and give her backing to President Biden. Some commentators note that Haley is still winning a significant percentage of votes despite her withdrawal from the race. Democrats in Pennsylvania are reportedly targeting Haley backers in the hopes of persuading them to vote for Biden.

Analysts furthermore note that Trump has done little to win over Haley’s supporters. An anonymous GOP source reportedly claimed that the former President and his team have adopted a policy of denial toward Ms. Haley and her followers. Trump Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, however, insisted the GOP nominee is “building a historic and unified political movement to make America great again.” She said Mr. Trump is bringing together black, white, and Hispanic voters, as well as people from all socio-economic backgrounds.
