(ProsperNews.net) – President-elect Donald Trump has confirmed plans to deploy military troops as part of a sweeping strategy to enhance border security and carry out mass deportations, a cornerstone of his 2024 campaign promises. Trump underscored his commitment on Monday by responding to a Truth Social post from Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, who claimed the military would play a critical role in reversing the influx of illegal immigration. Trump’s one-word reply, “TRUE!!!,” left no ambiguity about his intentions.
The proposed plan includes declaring a state of emergency to expedite deportation efforts and tighten border controls. During a press conference in September, Trump described the initiative as the “largest deportation in the history of our country,” specifying cities like Springfield and Aurora as focal points for action.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have expressed optimism about the potential impact of the new measures, citing a recent slowdown in border crossings due to enforcement actions by the Mexican government. Measures like restricting access to the northbound freight train system known as La Bestia, often used by migrants, have alleviated some of the immediate pressure at the border.
Military troops are expected to play a significant support role in the effort, a strategy that draws parallels to operations conducted under President George W. Bush’s administration. In 2006, 6,000 National Guard troops were deployed to assist Border Patrol agents while new personnel were trained. Under Trump’s plan, soldiers may handle logistical duties and security in border cities, enabling Border Patrol agents to assist U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement with deportation operations.
According to a CBP source, many agents are eager to participate in the intensified measures after enduring what they view as ineffective border policies over the past four years. The source noted that the military’s involvement would allow CBP agents to focus on critical enforcement tasks, saying, “Our agents have suffered through four years of an open border and are looking forward to undoing the damage done. If that means moving throughout the country to get the job done, most say they are ready.”
While the specifics of the deployment are still under review, the plan signals a dramatic shift in border policy and underscores Trump’s determination to deliver on his promise of restoring strict immigration enforcement. The proposed actions mark a significant escalation in federal resources devoted to addressing illegal immigration and could set the stage for a contentious policy rollout in the early months of Trump’s second term.
