Trump Plans Large Rally at Madison Square Garden, NYC

(ProsperNews.net) – Former President Donald Trump is aiming to make an unconventional play in New York by hosting a rally at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan on October 27, a move that challenges the longstanding belief that New York is out of reach for Republican presidential candidates. According to reports, the rally will be held at the iconic venue, which has a rich political history, having hosted the Republican National Convention in 2004 and the Democratic National Conventions in 1976, 1980, and 1992.

This rally follows previous large turnouts at Trump events in New York. In September, his rally at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island drew around 16,000 attendees, and a Bronx rally over the summer brought up to 10,000 supporters, despite the venue’s official capacity of 3,500.

Trump has expressed optimism about his chances in New York, citing growing frustration over crime, the handling of migrants, and changes to the city. “The people of New York are angry,” Trump said in February. “People that would have never voted for me because I’m a Republican…I think they’re going to vote for me.” He emphasized issues like rising crime and the visible presence of migrants in the city as driving forces behind potential shifts in voter sentiment.

While New York has long been a Democratic stronghold, Trump believes the state’s shifting dynamics could give him an opening. The last Republican presidential candidate to win New York was Ronald Reagan in 1984. Trump has pointed to other traditionally blue states like New Jersey, Virginia, and Minnesota as potential targets for flipping in 2024.

Although history suggests New York remains a challenge for Republicans—the best showing in recent years was George W. Bush’s 40.1% of the vote in 2004—Trump’s strategy reflects his confidence in tapping into voter dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs in New York City and beyond.
