(ProsperNews.net) – Former President Donald Trump lashed out at Oscar-winning actor Robert DeNiro, calling him a “loser” and “unwatchable.” DeNiro, best known for his iconic performances as an array of mobsters, verbally attacked Mr. Trump during a recent speech at the Gotham Awards ceremony in New York City, where he presented the Historical Icon & Creator Tribute to director Martin Scorsese.
Reflecting on his latest role in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” a film that depicts the murder of Osage Nation members by white settlers seeking control of their oil, DeNiro criticized former film star John Wayne for saying he did not think “taking this great country away” from native Americans was wrong.
The actor went on to launch a furious attack on Donald Trump and accused him of lying “more than 30,000 times” and of running a “campaign of retribution.” DeNiro added that America is currently a “post-truth” society and alluded to the controversy surrounding the Florida education standards, which note that slaves learned skills that were useful upon their emancipation.
Donald Trump responded to DeNiro’s remarks days later on this Truth Social media account and claimed the actor’s talents have diminished to the point where he is now “unwatchable,” called him a “total loser,” and said he is “disrespectful to our Country.” The former President also noted that Mr. DeNiro would be better off focusing on his own life, “which is a mess.”
It’s unclear precisely what Trump was alluding to, but only weeks earlier, DeNiro’s production company was found guilty of discrimination against a former assistant, Graham Chase Robinson.
The two-week-long New York civil trial ended with an order to Robert DeNiro’s company – Canal Productions – to pay $1.2 million in damages to Robinson for making lewd and degrading requests. Ms. Robinson called Mr. DeNiro the “boss from hell” and said the actor asked her to scratch his back and even hold his phone while he was urinating. She also alleged she was underpaid because she’s a woman.
