Trump Criticizes White House Correspondents’ Dinner

(ProsperNews.net) – Donald Trump mocked the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, saying Joe Biden was a “disaster” and headliner Colin Jost “bombed.” Writing on his Truth Social media account, the former President said the event was “really bad” and “doesn’t get worse than this.”

Known as the “Nerd Prom,” the White House Correspondents’ Dinner is the most high-profile annual event staged by the White House Correspondents’ Association, a group of journalists who cover events at the White House and stories surrounding the President.

President Biden delivered several jibes aimed at Donald Trump at this year’s event, calling him Sleepy Don and mocking his many legal battles. Some commentators turned Trump’s famous “Sleepy Joe” barb against him after he reportedly nodded off during his New York “hush money” trial in Manhattan.

Referencing his age and its relevance in the upcoming election, President Biden described himself as a “grown man running against a 6-year-old.” He insisted he felt great while campaigning all over the country.

Colin Jost, star of Saturday Night Live, also joked about the candidates’ age and questioned whether 99-year-old former President Jimmy Carter might consider joining the contest. He also jabbed at President Biden over reports that he has lost the support of black Americans.

Outside the event, pro-Palestinian protestors gathered to chant “shame on you” at President Biden for his continued support of Israel. The President did not mention the conflict during his 10-minute address, but in her remarks, Kelly O’Donnell, President of the White House Correspondents Association, claimed that around 100 journalists have died in the bloody 6-month-old war between Israel and Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

Donald Trump did not attend the dinner during his four years at the White House. His last appearance was in 2011, when then-President Barack Obama mercilessly ridiculed him from the podium. In remarks that some people suggest prompted Donald Trump to run for President in 2016, Obama ridiculed him as a conspiracy theorist and mocked his reality TV show, Celebrity Apprentice.
