(ProsperNews.net) – Three American troops died, and dozens more were injured, in a drone attack on a US base in Jordan. US Central Command confirmed the attack, which happened near the Syrian border and is the first fatal assault on Americans in the region since the terrorist attack on Israel last October. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin met with Biden at the White House to discuss a response as the situation in the Middle East becomes ever more fraught.
A group called Islamic Resistance claimed responsibility for the drone attack, and President Biden immediately declared the group was yet another Iranian-backed proxy organization. Iran is known to fund several terror groups in the Middle East, including Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas, which was responsible for the killing of Israeli civilians on October 7.
Several US Senators are pressuring the President to respond by hitting Iran on its own territory, but Iranian officials warn that this will take the two nations into direct conflict, and it will strike US interests across the Middle East in retaliation.
President Trump blamed the US deaths on Biden and said the wars that have erupted since 2021 would not have happened under his leadership. On his Truth Social media account, he called America to prayer and said that under his rule, Iran was broke and weak, but Biden gave it billions of dollars, which it has used to spread chaos.
The Pentagon has identified the three dead American troops as 46-year-old Sgt William Jerome Rivers, 24-year-old Specialist Kennedy Ladon Sanders, and 23-year-old Specialist Breonna Alexsondria Moffett. All three were from Georgia and assigned to the 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, at Fort Moore.
Reports indicate that a US response was delayed as the drone approached the base because a US drone returned at the same time, causing confusion. The attack happened during the night when most soldiers were sleeping. The Pentagon said 25 more soldiers were injured in the strike.
