Cruz recalled his experience serving alongside Harris in the Senate and highlighted a specific incident during a hearing with the head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). According to Cruz, Harris compared ICE to the Ku Klux Klan during the hearing, suggesting that some people saw them as similar. Cruz criticized this comparison, arguing that ICE is a law enforcement agency focused on protecting American citizens. He used the incident to demonstrate what he sees as Harris’s extreme views on immigration and law enforcement.
“Kamala Harris’s values haven’t changed,” Cruz said, agreeing with recent remarks by Bernie Sanders about Harris’s consistent political positions. “She has been a hard-left vote her entire life,” he added. Cruz also pointed out that Harris’s voting record in the Senate places her further to the left than Sanders and Warren, who are among the most progressive members of the chamber.
Cruz suggested that Harris’s current attempt to moderate her positions ahead of the election is merely a facade. “There’s a reason the left is not mad at Kamala for pretending to run away from all her left-wing positions,” Cruz said. “They know she’s pretending. They know it’s all about getting to Election Day.” He warned that if Harris were to make it to the White House, she would revert to the same far-left policies she has always supported.
In his concluding remarks, Cruz emphasized that voters should be wary of Harris’s political strategy, saying, “If, God forbid, she gets to the White House, she will go back to what she has done her entire life, which is hard, hard left.”
