Suspect Identified in Break-In at Trump’s Office

(ProsperNews.net) – Virginia law enforcement issued a warrant for the arrest of a suspect who allegedly broke into a campaign office in the state for former President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign.

According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect has been identified as Toby Shane Kessler, 39, and his location remains unknown. Kessler faces burglary charges for allegedly breaking into a Trump-Vance campaign office in Ashburn on Sunday, Aug. 11, which was captured on surveillance. Investigators said the break-in happened around 8:10 PM when the suspect forced open a back door, entered the building, spent a short time inside, and then left.

The Loudon County Sheriff’s press release stated that it doesn’t appear that Kessler left anything behind at the building and it’s “still unclear” if he took anything with him. Investigators found out that Kessler has a driver’s license from California, that’s he’s probably been in the Washington metro area since 2018, and has a record of past criminal activity.

In 2019, Kessler was charged in Maryland with several misdemeanors: second-degree assault, failure to comply with law enforcement, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace. On July 24, 2019, he was arrested and held on a $500 bond.

The building containing the Trump campaign office also serves as the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee headquarters. The surveillance footage of Kessler inside the building shows him wearing a backpack, dark clothing, and a dark cap. The sheriff requests anyone with information about him or who may have seen him to contact them.

Chloe Smith, press secretary for Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, said the attorney general’s office continues to monitor the situation. Smith told reporters that it was “outrageous” that someone “would break into a political office” and said such criminal acts were not tolerated in her state.

Concerns about violence have increased throughout the country leading up to November’s presidential election, especially following the failed assassination attempt against Trump on July 13 in Butler County, Pennsylvania. The Secret Service killed the shooter, who allegedly fired eight rounds, one of which grazed Trump’s ear. Corey Comperatore, a retired fire chief attending the rally, was killed while two others were severely injured.
