(ProsperNews.net) – President Biden is losing the black vote in Georgia, according to recent media reports. The swing state is home to the second largest black population in America – at 33% – and was a crucial boon to Biden in 2020, but Reuters reports that blacks in the Peach State are increasingly disillusioned with Democrats and feel they are not heard by President Biden’s party, which they believe has not delivered on its promises to address racial issues.
Furthermore, a Pew Research poll in January showed that slightly more black Americans disapprove than approve of Biden’s White House performance by a margin of 49% to 48%. Some analysts say the fall in black support indicates that Biden’s policies are not reaching them, and they are unaware of the President’s claims that he has caused black unemployment to fall to record lows and cut child poverty in half.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s popularity is growing among the black electorate. According to a New York Times/Siena poll in early March, support for Trump has increased by 500% since 2020 and by 4% since last October. Commentators suggest this is mainly attributable to inflation as food, gas, and rent prices remain high despite Biden’s promises to bring living costs down.
Donald Trump’s economic plans may be resonating, however. His one-time economic adviser, Steven Moore, says the former President is determined to bring jobs to America by hindering imports with tariffs as high as 10%. Mr. Trump also wants to cut taxes, and Mr. Moore notes that this could be funded by tariff imposition. Furthermore, he believes Trump’s promise to “drill baby drill” may be among his biggest vote-winners.
By increasing domestic energy production, Trump aims to lower costs for businesses and households, driving down inflation across the board. The Republican candidate, furthermore, said he would scrap the Inflation Reduction Act, which commits to incentivizing clean energy projects and expanding the number of potentially expensive electric vehicles on American roads.
