(ProsperNews.net) – New House Speaker Mike Johnson is considering issuing a subpoena for Hunter Biden’s testimony as he promised to pursue President Biden’s impeachment. Mr. Johnson told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo that, unlike Democrats, the GOP would not weaponize the justice system against the President but would follow the evidence and the Constitution. “I think we have a suspicion of where that may lead, but we’re going to let the evidence speak for itself,” he said.
Bartiromo asked Speaker Johnson if the impeachment process could include a subpoena for the President’s son, Hunter Biden, and he said that was certainly a possibility, but he had yet to make a firm decision.
Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy initiated the proceedings against the President, saying he had engaged in unlawful behavior and was involved in shady business dealings involving his son and several foreign companies.
During initial proceedings in September, the House Oversight Committee said it had “a mountain of evidence” that the President’s influence has been used for the family’s financial gain. Forensic accountant Bruce Dubinsky, called as a witness by the GOP, said Biden Junior’s finances were complex and raised questions about legality.
Chairman James Comer claimed that finding a smoking gun implicating the Bidens was difficult because federal agencies blocked investigations when Republicans try to uncover links between the President and his son’s financial affairs. Comer vowed to continue, and Speaker Johnson said he is determined to do the same.
In a separate Fox interview soon after his election, Mr. Johnson accused President Biden of repeatedly lying to the American public. He praised the efforts of Comer and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, who he said were methodical in their investigations. “They’ve just really done exceptional work uncovering the evidence,” he said, adding that there has been an “ongoing cover-up” to protect the President from scrutiny.
James Comer believes the Biden family has amassed more than $20 million by “selling the Biden brand” around the world.
