Sinéad O’Connor Died of ‘Natural Causes’

(ProsperNews.net) – Irish musician Sinead O’Connor died from natural causes, according to a London coroner. The troubled star died at her apartment in the UK capital last year at age 56, and there was some speculation at the time that she may have taken her own life. Her son committed suicide months previously and before her death, she tweeted, “I’ve decided to follow my son. There’s no point living without him.”

The singer, who shot to global fame in the 1990s, also had a long history of mental health problems, and suffered from bipolar disorder, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, and borderline personality disorder.

O’Connor claimed she was seriously physically and sexually abused by her mother during her childhood in Dublin, and she later developed an addiction to shoplifting. She was sent to Ireland’s notorious Magdalene asylums for “unruly” women, before escaping to London in 1985.

Following her number one hit “Nothing Compares 2 U” in 1991, O’Connor created several best-selling albums and picked up numerous music industry awards. However, her off-stage activities generated almost as many headlines as her music.

On Saturday Night Live in 1992, she tore up a picture of the Pope and told her audience to “Fight the real enemy.” The incident followed ordination as a priest by an unauthorized church in France years earlier. By 2018, she had converted to Islam and adopted the name Shuhada’ Sadaqat. The star immediately began directing her anger at white people and said she never wanted to be around them again. She later apologized.

O’Connor married four times, with one marriage in 2011 lasting just two weeks; she was mother to four children. In July 2023, she was found unresponsive in her London apartment, and police said there were no signs of foul play or any suspicious activity. Southwark Coroner’s Court initially ordered an autopsy, which concluded that natural causes had caused O’Connor’s death. The Court confirmed there will be no further investigation and the matter has now closed.
