Sheriff Accuses Kamala of Deception in Border Ad Campaign

(ProsperNews.net) – Vice President Kamala Harris recently put out a new campaign ad portraying herself as supporting policies that are tough on crime and secure the border that backfired on her when a California sheriff whose image was used in the ad slammed the Democratic presidential candidate.

The sheriff appearing in the ad is Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux who can be seen in the background from when Harris stopped in the Central Valley over a decade ago. The ad claims she fought drug cartels and “jailed gang members” who were smuggling drugs and weapons.

On Monday, Aug. 12, Boudreaux criticized the vice president for featuring him in the ad without asking for permission. He told reporters at Fox News that he doesn’t support the vice president’s candidacy for the presidency because he doesn’t believe she ever cared about securing the southern border, particularly when she worked as a district attorney in California, during which he said she did nothing to do so.

The sheriff published an official statement condemning the use of his image in the ad. The statement said Boudreaux wanted to “make it abundantly clear” that Harris used his image “without his permission” and that he doesn’t endorse her “for president or any other political office. The sheriff then pointed out what he called “misleading information” in the ad and said the truth was that Harris “never cared about the cartels” and did not stop illegal aliens from crossing the southern border.

The 37-year-old sheriff, who is also a veteran, said the vice president was trying to take credit for work done by local law enforcement. When Harris was around, he said that she “never came in” to greet any of them, instead coming in to give press conferences and then walking out without acknowledging the officers who did the dirty work. Boudreaux said he is “disgusted” by Harris’s mischaracterization of herself.

Boudreaux called the ad “smoke and mirrors” and maintained that the facts do not align with her portrayal of herself as a tough and strong state prosecutor regarding the border. He also accused Harris of defunding task forces designed to protect California residents, leaving the state “vulnerable.”
