Senator Seeks Deportation for Non-Americans in Pro-Hamas Riots

(ProsperNews.net) – Floridian Senator Marco Rubio has called for non-US citizens who engage in anti-Israel demonstrations to be deported. The Senator wrote an opinion piece with Congressional colleague Rep. August Pfluger, saying that the First Amendment guarantees US citizens the right to free speech but not to destroy property or attack others. The two lawmakers argue that college authorities, who have dismantled pro-Palestinian encampments on campuses across the country, were justified in doing so because demonstrators broke the law.

The Republicans say that lawbreakers should be punished and that non-Americans should have their visas revoked. Rubio and Pfluger note that laws do not need to change for this to happen because current legislation prohibits foreign citizens who “endorse or espouse” terrorism from entering America.

Additionally, the Terrorist Inadmissibility Codification Act revokes visas from visitors who express support for Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Palestine Islamic Jihad, or similar groups, they wrote.

In the opinion piece, the Republicans furthermore claim that a high number of Democrats support radical groups, including terror groups backed by Iran, and cite warnings from FBI Director Christopher Wray, who says the Middle East conflict has dramatically raised the terror threat level in the US.

Weeks after the Hamas attack on Israel last October, Mr. Wray told Congress that while the threat to the United States was high throughout the year, the assault on the Jewish state and its aftermath had increased the risk to “another level.” Wray warned Americans to be vigilant, noting that even though intelligence did not suggest a Hamas terrorist event in America, he could not rule it out. Furthermore, other groups, such as ISIS or Al Qaeda, could be inspired by Hamas’ actions in Israel, he cautioned.

Sen. Jacky Rosen, who endured online antisemitic slurs after October 7, asked Mr. Wray to assess the threat to Jews, and he told her the data shows that Jews are 2.4% of the US population, yet are subjected to 60% of religious-based hate crimes.
