(ProsperNews.net) – Ohio Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown plans to skip the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and said he has a different schedule than Kamala Harris, indicating his intentions to avoid campaigning with her if possible. Brown’s home state is reportedly leaning toward former President Donald Trump according to some polls, and that means Brown finds himself seeking reelection in a state likely to vote for the opposite party’s presidential candidate.
Brown also isn’t planning to pen any apologia for Biden’s handling of the southern border fiasco, nor will he defend Harris’ record. Instead, he said he plans to keep things local and focus on his challenger, Republican Bernie Moreno. Brown suggested he can emphasize Moreno’s character and previous business practices and doesn’t need to concern himself with national elections.
Speaking with corporate media, he suggested that it’s not about who he supports for president, but rather how well he represents the people of his state. Moreno is in a tight spot: only one candidate in 69 different races between 2016 and 2020 was able to win when their state voted for the opposite party’s president.
Speaking about campaigning with Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, Brown suggested they had different schedules and he was intent on focusing on his election, not hers. He also suggested they have different strategies and goals. He also plans to focus on the difference between Moreno’s positions on worker’s rights and abortion.
Brown also told corporate media that he’ll be skipping the DNC. He qualified his decision by suggesting he does so “often.” He added that he won’t be defending Harris publicly while his job is to fight for Ohio’s blue collar workers.
If Democrats lose control of Ohio, their slim Senate majority will be cut even further. Additionally West Virginia and Montana and slipping from their grasp, or that possibility is indicated by recent polling.
Moreno reported that he was excited by Harris being the new Democratic nominee. He suggested that while “Scranton Joe” had pull with Ohio voters, “San Francisco Kamala absolutely does not.”
