RFK Jr. Faces Backlash from Family for Endorsing Trump

(ProsperNews.net) – Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made history last week when he suspended his campaign and officially endorsed former President Donald Trump, a move that could greatly bolster Trump’s campaign while bringing ire upon Kennedy from his own family and the former president’s critics.

Immediately after Kennedy announced on Friday, Aug. 23, that he would suspend his campaign, drop off the ballots in swing states, and officially endorse Trump, five of his siblings published a joint statement denouncing their brother. The statement was posted on social media by Kerry Kennedy and quickly went viral, inspiring a mixture of responses, from Democrats who agreed with her to Trump supporters rebuking the Kennedy siblings for not standing beside their brother.

In that statement, the siblings said they seek “an America filled with hope” that is “bound together by a shared vision,” one of “a bright future… defined by individual freedom, economic promise,” as well as “national pride.” The five siblings said they “believe in Harris and Walz” to represent that vision and denounced their brother’s decision to endorse Trump as “a betrayal” of Robert F. Kennedy Sr’s values and the values the Kennedy family “hold most dear.”

The message ended by calling the independent candidate’s decision “a sad ending to a sad story.” The five siblings who signed the statement were Courtney, Kerry, Chris, Rory Kennedy, and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. One of Kennedy’s nephews, Joe Kennedy III, responded to the statement by calling it “well said.”

Another one of Kennedy’s brothers, Max Kennedy, criticized the endorsement a few days later in a Los Angeles Times article on Sunday, Aug. 25., writing that he was “heartbroken” over his brother’s decision and calling it a “hollow grab for power.” Max told Americans they should “ignore” the independent candidate.

A grandson of the late John F. Kennedy and a cousin of the candidate, Jack Schlossberg, also spoke out against the endorsement and accused him of being “for sale” and working for Trump. When his cousin first announced he was running, Schlossberg said he was an “embarrassment.”

Since joining Trump in Arizona after endorsing him and delivering remarks to Trump’s supporters, Kennedy has done a few media interviews about his decision and even spoke with Tucker Carlson for his first long-term interview since suspending his campaign.
