(ProsperNews.net) – Republicans in three states have drafted bills to exclude President Biden from the ballot. The move is a response to the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to ban President Trump from the primary election.
Rep. Aaron Bernstine of Pennsylvania, Rep. Charlice Byrd from Georgia, and Rep. Cory McGarr from Arizona have now drafted their own legislation to remove Biden from their state ballots and argue that Biden is every bit as guilty as Trump of “insurrection” due to his inaction in securing the southern border and his “corrupt family business dealings with China.”
The three lawmakers said Colorado had “changed the game,” and it’s “insane justification” for removing Trump can easily be applied to Biden, too. “To be clear, our objective is to showcase the absurdity of Colorado’s decision and allow ALL candidates to be on the ballot in all states,” they said.
The Centennial State Supreme Court ruled 4-3 in December that Trump is excluded from the state’s primary ballot because the 14th Amendment to the Constitution disallows anyone who has engaged in insurrection from occupying the Oval Office. The “insurrection,” the court ruled, was committed on January 6, 2021, when Trump supporters overran Capitol buildings in Washington, D.C.
It was the first time in U.S. history that a court had decided to remove a presidential candidate from a ballot.Trump’s team immediately said it would appeal the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court.
“We do not reach these conclusions lightly. We are mindful of the magnitude and weight of the questions now before us,” the judges wrote. The decision overruled a previous decree by a lower court that found the 14th Amendment did not apply to presidents.
In California, Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis wrote to the Secretary of State asking that options be explored to exclude Trump in the Golden State, but Governor Gavin Newsom said he opposes the idea. Newsom said Trump threatens liberties and democracy, but should face voters at the ballot box.
