Rep. Waters Urges Investigation of Trump Supporters

(ProsperNews.net) – Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters has called for an investigation into Donald Trump’s supporters, who she believes are “domestic terrorists” in training for a civil war. During a press interview, the California lawmaker said Mr. Trump is advocating retribution against his political adversaries and suggested his voters will pursue “bloodshed” if President Biden wins in November.

Waters added that the former President’s supporters previously attempted to “take over the government” on January 6, proving they do not care about democracy. “We’re trying to get an investigation going about that,” she said.

Rep. Waters has a long history of hostility toward Donald Trump, and in 2018, she famously encouraged activists to harass his cabinet members. Speaking at an outdoor public rally, Waters encouraged attendees to form a crowd around any Trump official they see in a restaurant or gas station and tell them they’re “not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

The Congresswoman later doubled down on her remarks and said it was legitimate to intimidate and “harass” Republicans until they decided they could no longer work with Donald Trump. Mr. Trump hit back, calling her “an extraordinarily low IQ individual” who had advocated harming her fellow citizens.

Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared to condemn Waters’ remarks, but suggested that Donald Trump had provoked them. She tweeted that Waters’ comments were unacceptable but “predictable.”

Steny Hoyer, House Minority Whip at the time, called on Democrats to rise above such rhetoric and not indulge in the same “hatred” as Trump.

Throughout his White House term, Rep. Waters frequently criticized President Trump. She now believes he intends to override the Constitution and seek a third term and that he will work with right-wing organizations to destroy Constitutional protections against Presidential overreach.

Her remarks came in response to Trump’s comments to the National Rifle Association about whether he could service two consecutive terms. He pointed out that Franklin D. Roosevelt served four terms before the 22nd Amendment restricted the number to two.
