The demonstration occurred near Harvard University, where student groups released a statement condemning Israel after it was attacked and its civilians slaughtered by Palestinian terror group Hamas on October 7. Twenty-seven student groups signed the statement: “We, the undersigned student organizations, hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence.” Pro-Israel students reacted with shock and called the declaration “deeply disturbing.”
Anti-Israel demonstrations have erupted across the Western world in the wake of the Jewish state’s declaration of war against Hamas. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton described the scenes in Sydney as “despicable” and “unimaginable in modern Australia.” He said such protests were a reminder that Australia must “continue our strong support for the people of Israel and the Jewish community.”
