(ProsperNews.net) – More than 23 million immigrants are eligible to vote in the 2024 Presidential election, according to an analysis by the American Immigration Council. The left-wing organization says immigrants already have the numbers to determine election results in some parts of the country, and this will grow in the coming decade.
Data shows that immigrants are far more likely to support Democrat candidates, and President Biden entered the White House on the back of small victories in crucial swing states. CNN exit poll data from 2016 shows that 64% of non-US-born voters backed Hillary Clinton, with only 31% supporting Trump.
Immigrant figures are set to jump to a record 50 million under President Biden, while statistics show that only seven million votes decided the 2020 election. In swing states, such as Arizona and Georgia, victory was determined by just over 10,000 ballots.
In 2021, former Fox host Tucker Carlson said Democrats want open borders to boost their ballot numbers. Mr. Carlson stated that illegal migrant numbers alone would “ensure permanent rule for the Democratic party” and dilute the vote of American-born citizens to the “point of irrelevance.” Carlson argued it would also mean an “instantaneous end” of the power of the African-American vote.
Repeated surveys reveal that immigration is a key issue for American voters, and 2024 Presidential candidates have varying policies to address it. Republican frontrunner Donald Trump promises to reinstate his “Remain in Mexico” policy – meaning migrants who claim asylum must stay outside of the US while they await a decision. He also pledged to “carry out the largest domestic deportation operation in American History.”
Robert F. Kennedy said he would “close the border,” while Ron DeSantis promised to end “birthright citizenship,” meaning the children of migrants would no longer automatically be US citizens. Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley said she would “limit” immigration and birthright citizenship. DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy both say they will “finish the wall” along the Mexican border.
