(ProsperNews.net) – Newly revealed text messages suggest that police and Secret Service tasked with protecting former President Donald Trump during an assassination attempt on July 13 knew about the suspect at least 90 minutes before he opened fire.
Corporate press revealed the messages which were released by Sen. Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) office. They got them from the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit. The messages show that officers identified the suspect, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, using a rangefinder 90 minutes prior to him opening fire at the rally.
Crucially officers identified but failed to approach or interact with him in any way.
Beaver ESU officers and a Beaver County Sniper are seen discussing the suspect around 4:30 p.m. almost 90 minutes before Trump got on stage. The text messages show that officers knew that someone had parked near their vehicles. They also identified him as a “kid” and highlighted that he was lurking around their building and was spotted using a rangefinder looking towards the stage. The same message advised notifying “SS” or the Secret Service and said that the suspect was no longer visible.
Another following message spotted Crooks sitting at a picnic table 50 yards from the exit. Counter-snipers responded to the series of messages with a thumbs up emoji indicating they acknowledged the message.
Forty-five minutes later, at 5:10 p.m. officers discussed Crooks moving towards the American Glass International (AGR) building. Crooks would ultimately climb that building with his rifle and shoot from it attempting to kill Trump. Officers took pictures of him instead of interceding.
Another message suggested officers relay the details to “command and have a uniform check it out.”
The messages reveal that authorities knew about Crooks and his potential for violence well-in advance of him opening fire and did nothing to stop him but take pictures, despite requests for someone to get involved.
Crooks opened fire around 6:11 p.m. killing one person attending the rally and injuring three others, including former President Trump who was shot in his ear.
