(ProsperNews.net) – GOP Presidential candidate Nikki Haley lashed out at Secretary of State Antony Blinken, saying he was “irresponsible” for failing to connect US funding to Iran with the terrorist attack on Israel on October 7. Blinken said the Biden administration has no evidence of any connection between the attack and the Iranian regime, which recently received a $6 billion boost when the US allowed access to previously blocked revenue.
In an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker, Haley stopped short of directly blaming President Biden’s actions for the attack but said Iran “spreads terrorism” every time “it gets a dollar,” and US politicians cannot ignore the potential link between the unfrozen funds and the unexpected assault on America’s most important Middle Eastern ally.
Haley explained that during her time as the US ambassador to the UN, she was aware that funding from the Obama administration was funneled to terror groups, including Hamas and Hezbollah.
In the wake of the atrocity in Israel that began with a ground and air invasion by Hamas, who slaughtered 100s of Israeli civilians, Mr. Blinken quickly sought to assure lawmakers and the American public that US funding had not been used. “We don’t have anything that shows us that Iran was directly involved in this attack, in planning it or carrying it out, but that’s something we’re looking at very carefully,” he said. He then acknowledged, “But there is certainly a long relationship.”
Iran has never been shy about its contempt for Israel, and several leaders have called for the Jewish state to be wiped from the map. Analysts say that even if Iran was not directly involved in the recent assault, its role could not be denied given its consistent support and funding of Hamas and Hezbollah.
Jonathan Spyer of the Middle East Forum said Iran intends to defeat Israel by “a thousand cuts.” The objective is to reduce Israeli morale and cause its citizens to lose faith in the concept of a Jewish state.
