(ProsperNews.net) – Veteran newscaster Dan Rather launched a ferocious verbal tirade against Donald Trump and called him a “cheating, lying, racist, treasonous, fascist, vile man.” The 92-year-old posted the remarks to social media, attracting various responses. Some people dismissed Rather as a member of the corporate media, which acts as the “enemy of the people.” Others accused the reporter of attempting to distract from Joe Biden and Barack Obama’s record or press freedom corrosion, citing the persecution of Julian Assange.
One social media user wrote, “Dan Rather is a liar. It’s a proven fact. It cost him his job.” Mr. Rather’s career was irreparably damaged by a story he ran in 2004 accusing President George W Bush of going AWOL from duty while serving with the Texas Air National Guard. Bush said the documents used to “prove” the case against him were fake, and a subsequent investigation concluded that the story lacked “fundamental journalistic principle.” Rather’s reputation and career never recovered.
The former anchor’s contentious activities on social media did not stop at attacking Donald Trump; he also lashed out at pro-life activists. Rather wrote, “Not sure if it’s just me, but I’ve never seen long lines of pro-lifers lining up to be foster parents.”
These remarks likewise prompted a slew of responses, with many people claiming most foster parents are pro-life, and others said pro-life evangelicals adopt and foster more children than any other single group.
It is not the first time Rather has made disparaging remarks about anti-abortion activists, and in 2021, several people condemned him for comparing women’s situation in Afghanistan to pro-life legislative attempts in the US. He said it was “worth noting” that those attacking the Biden administration for leaving women at the mercy of the Taliban were the same people calling for abortion prohibition in America.
Several people called out Mr. Rather for what they considered an absurd comparison. He was accused of deliberately misrepresenting the arguments of pro-life activists.
