(ProsperNews.net) – Democratic New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman has been mocked and ridiculed on social media for saying America must stop drilling for oil to combat extreme weather. On CNN, the Congressman said, “We need to stop drilling for fossil fuels completely. We need an expedited way to get us to clean, renewable energy, or we will continue to have these severe weather events.”
His remarks were tweeted by the Republican National Committee and received a barrage of responses. One person responded, saying, “How did this man get into Congress? Literally thousands of everyday items are made from fossil fuels. Many items included in the green energy push also require fossil fuels to be produced and/or to function.”
Climate change campaigners believe that burning fossil fuels to create energy emits high carbon dioxide levels into the atmosphere, creating warmer weather. However, some experts maintain this is untrue and that global bodies such as the United Nations deliberately encourage climate change panic.
British scientist and weather expert Paul Burgess responded to claims by former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson with evidence that weather events in previous decades have been far more extreme than they are today. He also said carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have been much higher in the past.
Johnson produced a video saying that forest fires and high temperatures in the United States were caused by climate change, prompted by fossil fuel usage and that this is a modern phenomenon. Mr. Burgess has collated detailed records showing that fires in the US were far more common in the late 1800s and early 1900s than they are now. He also published data showing that temperatures were higher in the US between the 1920s and 1940s.
Immediately after the famous speech by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, a group of scientists wrote a letter to the United Nations saying there is no climate emergency. Most mainstream media outlets did not publish the letter.
