New Vehicles Wreak Havoc on Texas Traffic

(ProsperNews.net) – Driverless cars are causing chaos on the roads in Texas. A video has emerged showing around 20 of the vehicles stuck at a junction and blocking traffic in four different directions. Self-driving Chevrolet Bolts, used as taxis and owned by Cruise Robotaxi company, blocked a major intersection in Austin as the car’s internal computerized systems appeared not to understand each other.

“These dumbass cars don’t even know what to do! Are you telling me they don’t even know how to get out of this?” asked one frustrated motorist.

A Twitter user posted the footage online, and most responders appeared to find the situation amusing. One former aircraft maintenance engineer described how he got out of the industry just as “computer technology took control of flying aircraft and ****ing up far more than pilots ever did.”

In the wake of this and other incidents, residents in Austin came together to initiate a petition for Cruise to reduce the number of vehicles on the roads. Jinous Rouhani started the petition after she narrowly avoided being knocked over by one of the cars – she said she had seen several near-dangerous incidents.

Cruise manager Michael Staples said the number of people taking their cabs increased over the summer. Referring to the traffic jam that went viral online, Mr. Staples said, “One vehicle got stuck, and it ended up leading to a bit of a domino effect. Anytime there’s an incident or accident, we review absolutely everything, so we take this very seriously.”

Meanwhile, drivers in San Francisco become ever more exasperated with that city’s fleet of autonomous cars. Jeanine Nicholson, Chief of the San Francisco Fire Department, said, “Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you see something new.” She described how driverless cars become stuck on corners, collide with objects, and sit in the middle of busy intersections.

Cruise Robotaxis took half of its fleet off the roads in response to a collision in August.
