(ProsperNews.net) – Billionaire businessman Elon Musk has accused the Democrats of importing illegal immigrants to boost their vote count at election time. Following a discussion on Fox News about Haitian immigration, during which New York Rep. Yvette Clarke said she needed “more people in my district just for redistricting purposes,” Musk took to Twitter to express his disgust.
He tweeted that most Americans don’t realize that the census is based on headcount, and this includes illegal immigrants. “This shifts political power and money to states and Congressional districts with the highest number of illegals,” he wrote.
Congressional Republicans argue that districts should be apportioned by the number of citizens only. Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie responded to Mr. Musk, saying he was correct and that most Americans oppose the current system.
In January, Republican Senator Kevin Cramer of North Dakota introduced legislation to address the issue, saying Democrats were using illegal immigration to influence district apportioning and Electoral College votes. The Senator introduced the Equal Representation Act, which highlights the potential for political advantage by including illegal migrants in the census count, and requires the Census Bureau to publish demographic data.
Senator Cramer issued a statement noting that record numbers of illegal migrants have entered the United States during the Biden administration and said this has a far-reaching impact on American life.
Cramer’s legislation is backed by several Senators, including Bill Hagerty of Tennessee. Mr. Hagerty issued a press release saying that because people are “fleeing” Democrat-run cities and states, the party is replacing them with immigrants and “illegally boosting their political power.”
The legislation is also backed by Senator Mike Rounds of South Dakota, who called the inclusion of illegal immigrants in census counting a “perverse” incentive for yet more illegal migration, backed by the Democrats.
The Equal Representation Act has furthermore won the support of Senators Marsha Blackburn, JD Vance of Ohio, Mike Lee from Utah, and Cynthia Lummis in Wyoming, among others.
