Musician Lara Trump’s Single Faces Censorship

(ProsperNews.net) – Musician Lara Trump – daughter-in-law of the former President – cannot use her name in a Times Square advert for her new single. The singer has released a cover of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Town,” but TSX Entertainment, which owns a prominent electronic billboard in the iconic square, published her ad without her name after suggesting that her surname was “an issue.”

The singer was furious when the nameless ad went live, saying, “Hell no, I’m not okay with just Lara. My name is Lara Trump, and I’m proud of that.” The company further told her that the name Trump “conveys a political message,” but the singer pointed out that TSX Entertainment has had no concerns about publishing advertisements for Planned Parenthood and Black Lives Matter in the past.

LJ Fino, the song’s producer, said the censorship of Trump’s name is “a clear attempt to stifle and limit the expression of free speech, the bedrock of music.” He added that companies must learn to keep politics out of business, or they will “be digging their own graves.”

According to Trump, her single is also censored online. She said streaming services, including Apple and Spotify, buried the song, and friends told her they could not locate it when they tried to buy it. The Daily Mail searched on both Spotify and Apple Music, using the song’s name, but Lara Trump’s version was not included in the search results.

Lara’s husband, Eric Trump, son of former President Trump, took to social media to complain about the treatment of his wife’s work, and some users responded by reminding him that Tom Petty’s family previously complained about President Trump’s use of the same song.

When Donald Trump used “I Won’t Back Down” at a campaign rally, the deceased rock star’s family published a statement saying, “We would hate for fans that are marginalized by this administration to think we were complicit in this usage.”
