Michelle Obama Says Critics of Harris Are Racist, Sexist

(ProsperNews.net) – At a campaign rally in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Saturday, former First Lady Michelle Obama expressed concern over the tight race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Obama voiced her support for Harris, calling her an “extraordinary human being” and a candidate who “will be an extraordinary president.” She questioned why the race was so close, suggesting that voter reluctance toward Harris might stem from deeper societal issues like sexism and racism.

“Kamala Harris is an extraordinary human being, she is an extraordinary candidate, and she will be an extraordinary president of the United States of America. Mark my words,” Obama told the crowd. “So, Michigan, with all that being said, I gotta ask myself, well why on earth is this race even close?” She continued, “It’s clear to me, the question isn’t whether Kamala is ready for this moment… because by every measure she has demonstrated that she’s ready. The real question is, as a country, are we ready for this moment?”

Obama urged the audience to consider the stakes, emphasizing the need to push beyond “distractions” and “scams” that might divert voters. “Are we willing to do what it takes to get her across the finish line or are we going to let ourselves get distracted?” she asked. “Are we going to lose sight of the dire consequences if we come up short?”

The former first lady acknowledged that while she sees strong support from the rally crowd, she still feels “genuine fear” about the outcome of the election. “Y’all give me great comfort in this arena, but, this is a big country, and that’s why all of my hope about Kamala is also accompanied by some genuine fear,” she shared.

Obama’s remarks echo similar concerns from other Democrats. Stacey Abrams, former Georgia gubernatorial candidate, recently suggested on CNN that Harris’s struggle for support may be influenced by racism and sexism, particularly among Black male voters. During an MSNBC interview with Al Sharpton, Harris herself suggested that male Black voters who oppose her might be influenced by misogyny.

As Election Day nears, Obama and other high-profile Democrats are ramping up efforts to rally voters, emphasizing the historic nature of Harris’s candidacy and urging Americans to consider what they see as high stakes for the nation’s future.
