Massive Gathering as Hundreds Support ‘Take Our Borders Back’ Convoy at Border

(ProsperNews.net) – Hundreds of people gathered in Quemado, near Eagle Pass, to protest America’s porous southern border. The demonstrators, who came from all over the United States, met at a private ranch in a unifying show of opposition to open borders. Quemado is one of the nation’s illegal immigration hotspots, and the ranch is located just hundreds of yards from the Rio Grande crossing point.

Anson Bills, who manages the ranch, said around 300 vehicles participated in the convoy. The participants were invited to the event to take part in a weekend of prayer for the closure of the border and support of border patrol agents. People waved American flags and sold pro-America merchandise at the event, which featured Christian songs, and welcomed local officials, including Republican Congressman Keith Self from Texas’ 3rd congressional district.

Mr. Self said he attended to express his support for Texas Governor Greg Abbott in his growing conflict with the federal government. Abbott placed Texas’ National Guard on the border and removed federal agents amid a row over razor wire that Texas officials placed along the Rio Grande. The US Supreme Court, ruling in the Biden administration’s favor, ordered the removal of the razor wire, but Abbott responded by installing more.

Republican Governors across the US have backed Mr. Abbott, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis sending reinforcements. DeSantis sent Florida’s National Guard to the Lone Star State, saying they would “help Texas to add additional barriers, including razor wire along the border.”

Other Governors who have voiced support for Abbott include Sarah Huckabee Sanders of Arkansas, Kim Reynolds of Iowa, Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, Bill Lee of Tennessee, and Spencer Cox, Governor of Utah. In all, 25 Republican Governors officially support Abbott’s actions in disregarding the Supreme Court ruling, citing his “right to self-defense.”

In a joint statement, the Governors said they support Texas “in utilizing every tool and strategy, including razor wire fences, to secure the border.”
