Massive Deportation: U.S. Sends Chinese Immigrants Back

(ProsperNews.net) – The Department of Homeland Security has deported 116 illegal Chinese immigrants in what was reportedly the largest deportation from the US since the Trump administration. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said the United States would “continue to enforce our immigration laws” and remove individuals with no legal basis for being in the US.

The Department furthermore hinted that the deportation was part of a joint effort by the US and China to tackle “illicit human smuggling.” Previous attempts to deport immigrants from China were hampered by Beijing’s refusal to take them back.

Nevertheless, reports indicate that the number of deportations is dwarfed by the number of Chinese who entered the US illegally in recent years. In 2023, for instance, more than 37,000 Chinese citizens were apprehended at the southern-American border, a figure that is higher than the previous ten years combined.

Federal officials did not confirm the identity of the deportees nor how long they had been in the United States.

The move comes as President Biden faces intense scrutiny and criticism over America’s open border. Polling shows that a growing number of Democratic voters are concerned about continued mass immigration, and more broadly, voters trust Donald Trump more than the President to tackle the issue.

In June, a survey found that 62% of registered voters want the widespread deportation promised by Donald Trump, who pledged he would facilitate the most extensive migrant removal in American history.

The Republican has vowed to deport between 15 and 20 million people and stated he would use the National Guard to perform the exercise. In a recent interview, Mr. Trump stated that laws intended to protect civilians from the military do not apply. “These aren’t civilians. This is an invasion,” he said.

The last mass deportation from the US took place under the Eisenhower administration in 1954, when more than a million Mexican citizens were rounded up and moved back over the border by military force.
