Many Democrats Publicly Oppose Biden’s Reelection Bid

(ProsperNews.net) – Democrats who do not back President Biden are speaking out, with some suggesting the President step down. David Axelrod, a strategist who worked on Barack Obama’s successful campaign, has urged Biden to step aside as polling shows he is trailing Donald Trump in battleground states and losing the support of black and Latino Americans.

In 2020, 78% of black voters supported the President, but by 2023, this dropped to 49%. Democratic pollster Terrance Woodbury said black voters are frustrated by high levels of foreign aid, which they believe should be spent at home. “We don’t have money for student loans, but we’ve got money to send to Ukraine. We don’t have money to invest in schools, but we have money to send to the Middle East,” Woodbury said.

Recent polling collated by Bloomberg shows Trump ahead by 47% to 42% in combined swing states. In Arizona, Trump is 4% in front, in Georgia it is 6%, Michigan 4%, Nevada 3%, North Carolina 9%, Pennsylvania 2%, and in Wisconsin, the former President leads by 4%.

While many voters in these states do not have a favorable view of Mr. Trump, they nevertheless trust him to handle the economy better than President Biden.

The President is also under pressure from the left, which is unhappy with his handling of the Middle East crisis and wants him to discontinue funding to Israel. According to the New York Times, many young and left-wing Americans see the Palestinian cause as an extension of racial social justice movements in America and see Israel as a manifestation of white supremacy.

Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota accused his party of wearing “blinders” and refusing to face these facts. He added that Biden is leading Democrats off a cliff, and nobody can predict what is on the other side. David Ignatius from the Washington Post added that it is painful for him to admit, but Biden and Harris should not re-run.
