Letitia James Commits to Continuing Trump Prosecution

(ProsperNews.net) – New York Attorney General Letitia James announced on Monday that her office remains committed to ongoing legal challenges against President-Elect Donald Trump. Speaking to reporters following Trump’s return to the White House, James made clear that her team has been preparing for months to counter Trump’s administration should it impact New York’s legal system.

James has been investigating Trump and his family’s business practices, particularly concerning the alleged manipulation of property values for financial gain. Last year, her office successfully prosecuted a civil case, resulting in over $350 million in penalties for the Trump Organization for alleged undervaluing and inflating of assets to secure better terms on loans and insurance.

“We know how crucial it is to defend our state’s interests,” James stated. “As Attorney General, it’s my duty to uphold the law for all New Yorkers, and no one is above it. If any administration actions attempt to skirt accountability, we will respond vigorously.”

James went on to stress that her team’s work is not driven by politics but by a commitment to the rule of law. “Our legal process is clear and nonpartisan. We stand for the principles that ensure fairness and justice, regardless of the individual in office,” she added.

The Trump camp responded to James’s statements through a spokesperson, calling the AG’s focus on Trump “politically motivated,” while asserting that the investigations are an “attempt to discredit him” after a “decisive electoral mandate.” Trump’s legal team contends that the investigations lack merit and intends to challenge further actions in court.

James’s office clarified that they are prepared to follow up on any alleged misconduct, even if that means extending existing cases. Legal experts suggest that James’s approach could complicate Trump’s upcoming term and, by extension, other investigations his businesses and family members currently face.

Although James refrained from specific comments on further lawsuits, she emphasized her readiness. “We are confident in our mission and in the law, and we are not backing down.”

In response to questions from reporters, James closed by reiterating her commitment to standing up for New York. “New Yorkers deserve transparency and accountability, and my office will continue to deliver just that.”
