(ProsperNews.net) – Kamala Harris’ senior adviser, David Plouffe, has come under scrutiny for a 2016 post on X (formerly Twitter) in which he called for the destruction of former President Donald Trump and “his kind.” The resurfaced post, highlighted by Trump’s campaign in the wake of a recent assassination attempt against the former president, has reignited concerns about the heated rhetoric directed at Trump by some Democrats.
Plouffe, a former senior adviser to President Barack Obama, wrote on June 13, 2016, “It is not enough to simply beat Trump. He must be destroyed thoroughly. His kind must not rise again.” The Trump campaign quickly pointed to this statement following Sunday’s failed assassination attempt, where Secret Service agents thwarted an armed suspect who aimed a rifle at Trump while he was golfing at his private course in Florida.
“This guy is now a top official on Kamala Harris’ campaign,” the Trump campaign posted, drawing attention to Plouffe’s role and his past comments.
The Trump campaign’s response underscores a broader narrative that has been pushed by Trump’s supporters, who argue that Democrats and anti-Trump factions have consistently labeled Trump as a dangerous figure. Critics of Trump have often accused him of being a threat to democracy, calling him an “insurrectionist,” a “dictator,” and worse.
This latest assassination attempt on Trump’s life marks the second in just two months. The first occurred when Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old gunman, shot at Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. A bullet grazed Trump’s ear, and the attack tragically resulted in the death of an innocent bystander, Corey Comperatore, and injuries to two others.
The series of violent attempts on Trump’s life has amplified concerns about the divisive and hostile political environment in the United States. Trump’s campaign and supporters argue that extreme rhetoric, like that of Plouffe’s 2016 post, fuels an atmosphere of political violence that puts lives at risk. As the political season intensifies, both sides are grappling with the implications of such charged language and its potential to incite real-world harm.
