(ProsperNews.net) – The social media account for Kamala Harris’s defunct presidential campaign has deleted a contentious post about political commentator Tim Pool, apparently as part of a resolution to a defamation lawsuit. The post, which falsely labeled Pool a “Trump operative” involved in a plan to expand executive power under “Project 2025,” accused him of supporting extreme measures, including jailing and executing Trump’s opponents.
Pool announced the deletion on Friday, noting that the legal dispute had been “resolved to my satisfaction.” While he did not disclose details of any settlement, he posted a screenshot of the now-deleted message with the caption, “Thank you.” When pressed for further comment, Pool offered a simple and pointed response: “Hahahahahaha.”
The lawsuit, filed in federal court, claimed that the Harris campaign’s post inflicted severe reputational harm on Pool, with damages estimated in the millions. Pool sought a retraction, attorney’s fees, and additional damages. The deletion appears to satisfy Pool’s demand for a retraction, though it’s unclear if any financial compensation was involved.
The deleted post was part of the Harris campaign’s broader strategy of making bold claims about Project 2025, a policy initiative spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation. Critics, including CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale, highlighted the campaign’s frequent use of misleading information on its social media platforms.
“A social media account run by Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has been repeatedly deceptive,” Dale wrote, referencing the @KamalaHQ account, which has more than 1.3 million followers. He noted its habit of selectively editing video clips and providing misleading captions to attack former President Donald Trump.
The @KamalaHQ account has remained dormant since November 5, when Harris officially lost the presidential race to Republican Donald Trump. Despite its inactivity, the targeted deletion suggests a deliberate response to Pool’s lawsuit rather than routine maintenance.
While Pool celebrated the resolution, the incident underscores the growing legal risks associated with unverified claims on social media, particularly in the high-stakes world of political discourse. For Harris’s campaign, the episode serves as a cautionary tale about the potential fallout of inflammatory rhetoric in an era of heightened scrutiny.
