(ProsperNews.net) – Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson will testify to Congress about government collusion with banks to spy on the financial activities of US citizens. The House Judiciary Committee’s Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, chaired by Ohio’s Rep. Jim Jordan, will hear from Dr. Peterson, who alleged in January that he has seen evidence that banks flagged transactions including the terms “Trump,” or “MAGA.”
Rep. Jordan further maintains that transactions involving the Bible, such as buying the holy book, and purchases from Bass Pro Shop, a firearms retailer, were also flagged. Additionally, Republicans claim, people buying plane or train tickets with “no apparent purpose” were also highlighted.
Mr. Jordan said that even though no criminal act was committed during the course of these transactions, the Treasury “seems to have adopted a characterization of these Americans as potential threat actors.”
Dr. Peterson entered the debate after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau instructed Canadian banks to freeze donations to the “Freedom Convoy,” a group of truckers who protested against coronavirus restrictions. Trudeau used Canada’s Emergencies Act to enforce the measure, which he argued was necessary because the protestors had installed “blockades” in Canadian cities and disrupted transport.
In January, Rep. Jordan wrote to Noah Bishoff, former Director of the Office of Stakeholder Integration and Engagement in the Strategic Operations Division of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), asking him to attend Congress for a transcribed interview.
In the letter, Mr. Jordan said FinCEN instructed financial institutions in 2021 to identify transactions using “typologies” of “various persons of interest.” In other words, Jordan wrote, FinCEN asked banks to “comb through” private transactions by American citizens on the basis of protected political and religious expression.
