(ProsperNews.net) – Maryland police confirmed that an illegal immigrant has been arrested and charged with the murder of mother-of-five Rachel Morin. Harford County Sheriff Jeffery Gahler said his officers detained Victor Martinez Hernandez of El Salvador in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and subsequently charged him with first-degree rape and murder. The 23-year-old entered the US illegally in February last year, and investigators believe he was responsible for at least one similar slaying in his home country.
Mr. Gahler said “this monster” escaped justice in El Salvador by fleeing to the United States after “committing the brutal murder of a young woman” a month earlier. His first known crime in America was an attack on a mother and her 9-year-old daughter in their Los Angeles home in March 2023. DNA evidence has since linked the LA murders to Ms. Morin’s in Hartford County, Maryland.
Morin, a 37-year-old mom, died while jogging on the Ma & Pa Trail in Bel Air on August 5 last year. DNA lifted from the scene was entered into the nationwide Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), and when Maryland police checked DNA from their crime scene, they found a match.
At a press conference announcing Martinez Hernandez’s arrest, Sheriff Gahler lashed out at the Biden administration and said all of America is unsafe thanks to open border policies. He pointed out that his state is 1,800 miles from the border, but this has not kept illegal immigrant crime from its door.
Martinez Hernandez joins a growing list of immigrants detained for brutal crimes, including Nilson Trejo-Granados, arrested in Maryland for the fatal shooting of a 2-year-old boy. A killer posing as a UPS delivery truck driver murdered three in Minnesota, and police discovered he had been detained at the border and released.
Jose Santiago Chairez faces capital charges for killing two sisters at their Texas ranch, and the death of Laken Riley in Georgia at the hands of Venezuelan migrant José Antonio Ibarra prompted a national outcry.
