ICE Arrests Illegal Immigrants Suspected of Attacking Police

(ProsperNews.net) – Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested a group of migrants who were initially thought to be the men caught on tape assaulting New York Police Department (NYPD) officers in Times Square in Manhattan. Subsequent media reports, however, claimed the arrests were not connected to New York, and those suspects are still on the run. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office told Fox News that the alleged offenders on Times Square are believed to have left the state and are making their way toward California.

Manhattan D.A. communications director Danielle Filson said, “To date, we have not received any indication from federal authorities that they have detained anyone related to our case.”

Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents confirmed that they have arrest warrants for the suspects sought in connection with the assault on NYPD officers. The group was arrested after the assault and charged but released, and lawmakers wrote to New York Governor Kathy Hochul saying Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is responsible for letting them go and should be removed from office.

State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt and 19 other lawmakers in the Empire State called Bragg’s conduct “unconscionable,” and his release of the suspects must be “the final straw.” A spokesperson for Mr. Bragg said the DA’s office is working closely with NYPD to apprehend the suspects and hold them accountable.

The incident happened in Times Square when officers tried to disperse a crowd and wrestled one person to the ground. While subduing the suspect on the ground, several bystanders kicked them. NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said cops are assaulted in New York because of the soft-on-crime approach of the DA’s office, meaning there are “no consequences” for lawbreakers.

The suspects sought by federal law enforcement agencies are 19-year-old Darwin Andres Gomez, 21-year-old Wilson Juarez, 24-year-old Yorman Reveron, and 22-year-old Jhoan Boada. All are illegal immigrants, but it is unclear how and when they entered the United States.
