Hiker Found Dead, Estranged Husband Charged with Murder

(ProsperNews.net) – Susan Lane-Fournier, a 61-year-old hiker from Oregon, was found dead near Mt. Hood, along with her two dogs, after being reported missing on November 22. Her estranged husband, 71-year-old Michel Fournier, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death.

Lane-Fournier’s body was discovered near a property the couple owned in Brightwood, Oregon, following a multi-day search. Her white 1992 Ford F-250 was located near East Salmon River Road, which helped guide search efforts. Tragically, her two dogs were also found deceased near the scene.

The case has taken on a grim tone, with details emerging about Lane-Fournier’s recent fears for her safety. Just two weeks before her disappearance, she had filed for divorce from Fournier. A coworker revealed that Lane-Fournier had expressed concerns for her life, confiding in colleagues about her growing apprehension.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined that Lane-Fournier’s death was a homicide. Shortly thereafter, Michel Fournier was arrested and charged. Authorities are now seeking additional information about his activities leading up to and following Lane-Fournier’s disappearance to build their case.

The tragic news has sent shockwaves through the local community, where Lane-Fournier was known as an avid hiker and beloved friend. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has urged anyone with information to come forward as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

This devastating case highlights the intersection of domestic turmoil and violent crime, leaving a grieving community and unanswered questions in its wake.
