Harris No Longer Backs Fracking Ban She Advocated in 2019

(ProsperNews.net) – Vice President Kamala Harris has changed her tune on fracking in a reversal from her position during the 2020 election cycle. During her bid as an independent candidate in 2019, she told audiences that she wanted to ban the practice. She said her immediate priority would be banning fracking on public land and then expanding the ban from there by supporting legislation.

Harris said the impact of fracking on people living in the areas was negatively affecting their health and well being. She was also in favor of the infamous Green New Deal when she was a senator for California in 2019; that also attempted to hoist a fracking ban across the country.

Fracking uses pressurized water pumped into the ground to release natural gas that can be harvested and sold to consumers for heating, cooking, and other energy needs. It’s controversial due to its potential impact on the environment, including contaminating groundwater.

Despite the claims by Harris in 2019 and prior legislative attempts to ban the practice, the Biden/Harris administration did not pursue fracking bans. Joe Biden was quoted during a primary debate suggesting that he was going to “make sure” the practice was banned upon taking office. He also advised subsidizing gas and coal companies that invest in “carbon capture” technology.

Biden’s withdrawal has reenergized the democratic media apparatus, even a once-hesitant Barack Obama is coming around to the idea of supporting Harris as the next nominee. The media cycle has been dominated by news regarding her campaign with search engine Google being criticized on X for redirecting search results for news about Donald Trump to articles about Kamala Harris.

Trump’s campaign calls Harris an “ultra-liberal” and slammed her record as the administration’s “border czar” even as the corporate press attempted to revise history in real time and suggest Harris never held the title. Trump also suggested Harris’ policies would result in higher energy costs for all Americans and the problem would get so bad folks would beg for his return.
