Harris Declines to Address Trump’s Three Debate Challenges

(ProsperNews.net) – Despite accusations from her supporters that former President Donald Trump is scared to debate her, Vice President Kamala Harris appears to be the one avoiding the total challenge as the November election inches nearer.

On Thursday, Aug. 15, Trump offered to debate the vice president three times next month. He said he would face off with Harris on Wednesday, Sept. 4, in a debate hosted by Fox News; again on Thursday, Sept. 10, in a second hosted by NBC News; and then for a third debate hosted by ABC News on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Harris only agreed to the second debate proposal for Sept. 10 hosted by NBC News and would not comment on the other two proposed dates and whether or not she would accept the challenge. On Thursday, Aug. 8, the vice president told NBC News reporter Shaquille Brewster in Wayne, Michigan, that she is “looking forward to debating” Trump on Sept. 10 and that she heard the former president “finally committed to it.”

Harris was also pressed on recent allegations against Gov. Mike Walz, who she recently picked as her running mate, that he’s been inflating his military record by claiming to have retired at a higher rank than he did and to have seen combat when he did not. Critics accuse Walz of “stolen valor.” All the vice president would say about the matter was that she praised “anyone” who signed up to “serve their country” and that everyone should praise them.

Throughout the last month, Trump and other Republicans mocked the vice president for her inability to have unscripted media appearances. Trump has held himself up in contrast by speaking to billionaire Elon Musk in an off-the-cuff conversation hosted on Musk’s social media platform X, a conversation that lasted over two hours. During that chart, the two entrepreneurs agreed that neither Harris nor Biden seemed capable of participating in such long-form, unscripted events.

On the same Thursday reporters questioned Harris about the debate, Trump held a press conference at his Florida estate and accused her of “not doing any news conferences” and not knowing “how to do a news conference.” Trump said Harris wasn’t “smart enough” to do so. His remarks may have gotten to her, and Harris is now saying she’s spoken with her team about scheduling an interview before the end of August.
