(ProsperNews.net) – Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign spent $2.6 million on private jet travel in October, according to newly revealed Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings. The campaign, which reportedly spent $1 billion in total, is now facing scrutiny for its financial decisions after losing the November 5 election to President-elect Donald Trump. The campaign is also grappling with a reported $20 million in debt.
The filings show that in October alone, $2.2 million was paid to Private Jet Services Group, with an additional $430,000 going to Advanced Aviation Team, a charter flight broker. Individual disbursements ranged from $3,500 to $940,000. Overall, the campaign’s private flight expenses exceeded $10 million since July, including $3.1 million spent in September.
In addition to the costs associated with air travel, other expenditures by the campaign have raised questions. Harris’ team paid $1 million to Oprah Winfrey’s production company for an October rally and spent $4 million on Village Marketing Agency, which specializes in connecting clients with social media influencers. At least $15 million was also allocated to event production.
The use of private jets has drawn criticism for its environmental impact, given Harris’ previous statements highlighting climate change as an existential threat. Private jets emit significantly more greenhouse gases per passenger than commercial flights, leading some to accuse the campaign of hypocrisy.
“There’s no question we have to be practical,” Harris said in 2019, referring to the urgency of addressing climate change. “But being practical also recognizes that climate change is an existential threat to us as human beings.” Critics argue that her campaign’s spending decisions appear to contradict her earlier stance on reducing emissions.
The financial revelations come amid ongoing scrutiny of the campaign’s overall strategy and resource management. Despite raising more than $1 billion, Harris failed to secure victory and left the campaign with significant debt. These disclosures are adding to post-election debates about spending priorities and messaging within the Democratic Party.
